PHASE 1A: Create loose parts & fort play space(nearing completion)
PHASE 1B & 1C: Enhance boulder area withaccessible swinging & install spinningstructures (Spring 2024)
PHASE 2: UA Schools investment of post-and-platform play structure, a wheelchair accessible spinner, monkey bars, poured-in-place surfacing, new athletic field & Castle decommission (Summer 2024)
PHASE 3: $350,000 community fundraise for additional play structures & grounds update
Our Story
After 34 years of devoted love and use Wickliffe’s Castle Playground in Upper Arlington has reached the end of its useful and safe lifespan and cannot be repaired in a way that would extend its life significantly. We are on a mission to build a playground.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create an iconic, world-class, inclusive playground rooted in elements of nature-based play, STEM & environmental learning for use by Wickliffe students, staff, families, the larger Upper Arlington community and visitors from near & far.
Accomplishments
- $90,000+ raised with over 400+ donors & grants from the Upper Arlington Education Foundation & Upper Arlington Community Foundation
- $8,000+ in-kind donations
- Community partnerships with: Northwest Kiwanis, UA Alumni Association, UA Historical Society, UA Parks & Rec & UA Schools
